Alpenhof Hotel becomes Tradition Julen - July 2014
In December 2014 an eighth guesthouse will come under the wings of Tradition Julen Zermatt: the well run and extremely popular Alpenhof Hotel will remain in the hands of the Julen family.
In 1910 Pauline and Andreas Julen opened a small guesthouse in Zermatt. Neither they, nor their successors – son Meinrad with his wife Olgi who successfully ran the hotel until 1981- could have imagined what their heirs would make of it. Today their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren operate some of the most popular hotels and guesthouses in Zermatt.
Two of these ventures will now be combined. The Alpenhof Hotel is being taken over by Tradition Julen Zermatt, which already consists of seven hospitality businesses. This decision has been positively received by both vendor and hotel guests.
The current hosts, Hans-Peter and Annelise Julen will step back from the operative side of the business and will successively relinquish their share in the venture – knowing full well that their nephew Paul-Marc and his wife Cindy will continue to run the business with the existing traditional values and philisophies. Tradition Julen Zermatt has been operating for four generations and Paul-Marc and Cindy Julen have been running it successfully for one year. They are in the position to extend the business and offer their guests further advantages under the logo „Tradition Julen Zermatt“.
A win-win situation, especially as the business stays in family hands and is not too dependant on external finance. This sustainable takeover ensures future investments into the quality of the hotels, which of course benefits their guests. The Alpenhof will remain what it has always been: a hotel run with passion that easily meets the highest demands.
Alpenhof Hotel Zermatt
In 1983 Hans-Peter Julen and his wife Annelise built the Alpenhof Hotel, situated next to the bottom station of the Sunnegga lifts. Just one year later, 30 rooms were added to the original 30 rooms as well as the first large wellness/bathing facility in Zermatt. The couple were able to live the dream of every hotel proprietor – of course with a great amount of passion and effort. Due to visionary investments, the Alpenhof became one of Switzerlands best holiday hotels and received a number of distinctions as such. Even today, the hotel is one of the most popular in Zermatt, which proves that the current investments and renovations, coupled with a passion for hotellery has paid off and is highly appreciated by their hotel guests.
